Welcome to

...my Datasaab site. SAAB, the maker of aeroplanes and automobiles, once was Sweden's largest maker of computers. In the 1950's SAAB-people wanted to construct a computer small enough to fit into a plane, an idea looked upon as pure science-fiction at the time. They became Datasaab and are the guilty party behind the best transistor-based computers of its time.
Datasaab hasn't recieved the share of the computer history it deserves and Datasaab is more or less unknown outside Sweden and then especially among younger computer buffs. When speaking of computer history the computers mentioned are often the Univac, IBM 360 and similar machines. But let's leave those behind to rust and move to the time when Swedish Datasaab was better than IBM.
